Hello I had seen your notes about Assest Acceptance.
I had been in some money issues and had disputed a cc bill. The bill somehow wound up in ASSes R us and they had put more than $1000.00 in interenet and fees about 6 years after the bill happened. The origianl amount was $135.00. I was told that if I agreed to make EFT payments they would take off a percentage of the internets. The amount that they agreed on was $1187.00 and they would not add any more interest or fees, but a year later I had gotten a bill for $1600.00. the first juy I dealt with misinfomred me of his name and did not enter the no internet and fees applied into the computer. I am gasking for help from my state represesntatve on this matter. I know the billing occured even though I disputed the bill and did not receved any indication that the bill dispute was denied until the AA got a hold of me. They told me that the only way to get rid of it was to pay it so they would report the payments to the Credit bureat, which they have not.

It may be too late, however, if the bill is past the Statute of Limitations, you are under no obligation to pay it. They can go to court and attempt to get a judgment against you, however, if you show up and point out it is outside of the SOL, the judge will throw it out. If you don't show up, they will win the judgment and you will be obligated.

These guys are scum and will play the game and not tell you the rules because if you knew the rules, you would tell them to go pound sand. I asked for validation from them 2 times on a debt that was outside of the SOL and they simply sent me a computer printout of the debt from their computer system; sorry guys, not enough. They moved on after that after someone who wouldn't give them much if any fight.

If you need more help let me know, I will give you what information I can, but make these guys earn it, don't give it to them.

    Hey Dove,

Just a heads up, but Sharon from the trib called me the other day and did a little telephone interview with me about the development.

I hope I sounded halfway intelligent in representing our side of the issue, but either way I'm going to be featured in Friday's Loganville Tribune, under my real name.

Not sure if she'll refer to my pseudonym from LOL or not, but either way it's me. Just thought you'd like to know

    Take care,

    Jeff
